Kent Street Senior High School originated as the first high school to be established on the southern side of the Swan River in Perth and is well known for its specialist Courses and academic programs.

Established in 1988, the Cricket Course provides opportunities for talented and devoted young cricketers to go on to the top in their chosen sport.

The Rod Marsh Cricket Nets were established at Kent Street in 1989 with financial assistance from Lord's Taverners WA. Rod, a former Kent Street student and Australian Test wicket keeper, was happy to allow the nets to be named after him.

The Western Australian Cricket Association has also supported the Kent Street Cricket Course since its inception and allows Kent Street to conduct pre season training each year at the WACA Ground, using the facilities of the Lord's Taverners Indoor Cricket Centre.

Graduates of the Kent Street Cricket Course include cricketers of the calibre of Marcus North, Luke Ronchi and Luke Pomersbach who have gone on to represent the Retravision Warriors and Australia.
