As we look forward to a new cricket year it is natural that we review and celebrate a successful 2010 for Lord's Taverners in Western Australia.
We:
-
welcomed new State Coach Mickey Arthur at our 2010 Spring Lunch
-
applauded the success of our Indigenous Cricket Team in winning the 2010 Imparja Cup
-
congratulated our 2010 Vintage Cricketer, and our two Junior Taverners
-
assisted a member to deliver used cricket gear to a remote South African community
-
assisted an Indigenous 20/20 Competition in Perth, and
-
supported Kent St SHS to win the Australian 5 Highs Cricket Competition.
The highlight of 2010 was undobtedly our Annual Test Match Breakfast back at the WACA - in a marquee erected on the Practice Wickets. Among our panel of speakers was Oscar winning lyricist Sir Tim Rice, captain of his own amateur 'Heartaches' Cricket Team and past President of Lord's Taverners in the UK. Sir Tim was ably supported by former Test Cricketer, Gladstone Small, and our own Lord's Taverners WA Captain, Mike Hussey.

I take this opportunity to thank Trevor Jenkins for introducing the speakers and for his interview with Michael. Also, I would like to thank Denis Lillee, Graeme Wood and John Snell for their assistance in securing the services of an outstanding set of speakers.
Together we look forward to 2011 and more opportunities to enjoy one another's company , whilst building a strong financial base for the continuation of our good work into the future. Our early functions will be:
-
a joint Garden Party with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the grounds of Government House on Sunday 20 March
-
Our Autumn Lunch in June when we will recognise our Junior Taverners and Vintage Taverner for 2011
I look forward to seeing all members and their friends at both of these functions.
